4 week old puppies get a bath

ok Dot... Here we go....

Today was BATH TIME!!! Yay! I have nice smelling puppies again. They all did very well in the warm water. I was right there the whole time and just watched. Brenny, Scrappy and Snowy are swimmers! Patches was cool with the water and Autumn, Benji and Scrappy were thirsty and drank the water. They cried initially, but then settled in just fine. My humans had lots of dryer warmed towles ready to dry them all off and stay toasty. I'm so proud of them all for being so good!

Nice warm watter. What a good puppy
They all were weighed as well... They are really growing FAST! Here's the breakdown:

Scrappy: 6lbs, Brenny:6lbs, Autumn:6lbs, Snowy:5lbs, Sherlock: 5lbs, Smudges: 4.5lbs, Dot: 4.5lbs, Benji: 4.5lbs, Weezer: 4.5lbs,   Patches: 4.5lbs

Snug as a bug in a rug...and sound asleep...
What? Huh? Where am I... I was sleeping....

WORMS

OK... This post can be a bit yucky, but my humans thought you all needed to see this. Humans know puppies have worms and that it's important to have them "wormed" when they are little, but few know what they look like... Yes, They can look on the computer and see pictures of them, but to see it first hand is a completely different thing. One of my humans was cleaning up after they ate their dinner and the other was keeping an eye on my pups since I was chewing on my bone... they were quiet so I knew they were ok.

Tonight was their 2nd dose of puppy wormer and they took it very well... Weezer didn't like it, but the others took it very well. After dinner they all took a nap. Snowy went potty and my human rushed to get my other human... "It looks like spaghetti"... yep you guessed it... Roundworms. Ewwwww.... The photo shows what they look like. Yes, I know it's gross, but this is what they look like:

The rest of the pups started moving these guys shortly after this pup...Yay for Healthy pups!!!  I think one photo was quite enough. Don't you agree???

Puppies Jail Break

Right to left - Dot, Scrappy, Snowy and Benji
Oh the events that unfold when the humans are not around.... See that gate in the photo? Yah, that brown gate? Well today after my humans fed my puppies and cleaned up after them and put them back into their box so they would be safe and sound when they left, Brenny... my wonderful son...knocked it over and then the flood of puppies happened! I tried to tell my humans they could get out, but they either don't speak dog or my mind control isn't working. Anyway 7 of them decided to make a break for it and couldn't get back in. Us big dogs were outside enjoying the lovely day and we all watched through the door, much to our amusement. They had a blast at first then tuckered out pretty quick. My humans came home only a short time later, much to their surprise only to see 3 pups in the box, the others were all curled up in a corner where they slept earlier today.

Canine Roundworm
Ahhhh.... now this bugger was a surprise.Yes, it's a roundworm. My puppies are on wormer to take care of these pesky little nasties, but what got my humans nervous is that this particular one was coughed up by a pup. It looks small, but for a puppy this is HUGE! Our friends in the medicine world reassured us that this is OK. They sometimes get into places where they shouldn't be and not just in their poop. (The worms not the puppies) As long as the wormer is working all of the worms should die and everyone will be healthy. No worries!
Feeding time! My humans are getting smarter at feeding my puppies. They have their food in a pie pan now. Good thinking humans! Now their feet can't get into the bowls, but they find a way anyway... as you can see... They are eating solids two times a day and will be going to three by the middle of the week. When they nurse, it's just for a little then they want something more. That's a good thing. Everyone is growing so fast and running all over the place! It's strange to think that just 4 short weeks ago they were just born.
