Pointer Puppies Play Date at the Dog Park

Hiking with my Human

I thought yesterday was fun, but today was exhausting! My human left early in the morning and brought home lots of bags of good smelling things... I tried to help her put stuff away with a sweet potato and she took it away... crud! Then she put my collar on and we went for a ride back to the dog park. YES! ...  No! she brought my backpack and Shasta's harness. Hmmm... a run maybe? It's really hot, so I don't think that's it. Ahhhh... a hike in the woods! Cool!!!

This is going to be FUN!

My human put this thing around my harness. But it didn't work, so I got stuck carrying it... oh well... not a big deal. You see that split in the woods behind me? Yah, we're going THERE!

This is a little more than half way there. WOW was it a steep climb! We didn't go up over the rocks, there is a really steep area just behind me a little. I was strong though and was careful. We took our time because the rocks were really loose and I could have hurt my feet if I stepped on one wrong. I'm glad my human brought lots of water, I drank a lot. I was really really REALLY thirsty when we got to the top part. On the way back I was really scared and my human had to help me down. I was SO scared! Its much steeper coming down than going up! 

This is on the top of those steep rocks. Hay! Isn't that where Deacon lives? He told me he walks with his human to the dog park.... I be he lives down there. Maybe if I bark really loud he can hear me.... no, probably not. That's a far ways away.

Yep... Now that we are pretty much at the top of our climb, I'm sure that's where Deacon lives, and that IS a far ways away!







The climb down went faster than the climb up, but I was really hot and my human helped me a lot. We stopped a few more times to rest and so I could have water. I didn't get overheated because there was shade on the way down. The soft dirt felt SO much better on my feet. Maybe my human will get me boots for my feet next time. But in the meantime, I think I', just going to relax in the coolness of the truck. My human was really good and turned on the breeze really cold. Ahhhhh.....

But what's this? We have to go somewhere ELSE?? Do I have to walk??? My human didn't take any photos of this place, but I know where we were. We were in the store where the dogs get food. I got to ride in the big thing humans push around. Little humans pet me, a big human gave me a treat, and when we were leaving I got a BIG treat from the other human on the other side of the table. It tasted like peanut butter. Yah, I know what that is, I get it all the time at my house.

My human said I was such a trooper today (I thought I was a Champion?) that she had a special treat for me.





Oh yah! Knuckle bone in bed on the deck! LIFE IS GOOD!

Pointer puppy heads to the dog park

Hey there! This weekend has been very busy for me and Shasta! Mostly me, but Shasta came along on my adventures. We went to the Dog park to play and Rasha came too! I love it when she comes out to play. We have SO much fun!

See? That's Shasta getting a brushing... he's shedding really REALLY bad! Rasha is waiting for Shasta to finish so all us humans and dogs can walk to the park together. There's a lot of these little things that scurry around lately. They are really fast and have blue tails sometimes. I try to chase them but they are good hiders. One caught my eye right as my human was taking this photo... She calls them Skinks... I call them little fast things I can chase!!!

I also met these really cool little humans! They know a lot about dogs, and told me this other really big dog was the breed Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. I dunno, but he was big. We chatted for a little, but he didn't want to be bothered too much. You see, HE'S a show dog. He was on his way to a show and wanted to stretch his legs a little. He asked me not to get him dirty. (what?!?!) He said his name was Attacus and had only to win one more show before he was a Champion. I don't know what that is, but my human says I'm a champion and I didn't have to do any shows. Oh well... he was nice, but kinda snooty... off to play with Rasha!

Then we met this really cool dog. He was a puppy like us, but maybe a little older. he wasn't an adult like Atticus, but not young like us. His name was Max. He had really big feet and reminded me of Suki. He didn't know I was cuddling with his tail... His humans were the little humans I spoke about earlier... they know a lot about dogs.

Oh! And this dog.... She was the same size as Rasha and I. She was a puppy too... like Max. Her name was Zoe. Just like my mom! She didn't want to play much. She was really nervous and stayed close to her humans. What a fun day though! After I got home, my human put me right into the tub! Ahhhhhh....



The Charlotte Pet Expo

Snowy here...again... as always... ready to give you the scoop on my adventures! Today was a lot of fun so far and it's only half over! Another half birthday? No... not so soon my human says, but it sure FELT like it!

It all started like this, Once Upon A Time..... hehehe... I always wanted to say that. My humans were awake unusually early this morning and got me up also. While they were rushing around (they must be going somewhere again) I just hung out on the couch and waited...whaaat...doesn't every pup sit on the couch like this?

Then we went for a ride to watch all my friends on the really loud things they ride on arrive and leave. My human said that they were leaving for the mountains where the roads were really curvy. Phew! I'm glad we're NOT going with them. I just ate breakfast and I would like to keep it in my tummy please.

Then...we went into a place that is like the place with the food and the other dogs on leashes, but this wasn't like that place. hehehe.. this place smelled like dirt. My human kept me on a super short leash and we practiced sitting... and staying... and laying down... (sigh)... and dont pay attention to the humans... or the things they push... and yes, let them pat me, but don't jump... ugh...geesh! That wasn't really fun. At that time I wanted to go home. I was totally bord. That was really no fun.

Ha! But then! It gets better! WAY better!

Where ARE we??? Look at all the dogs!!! This is gonna be FUN! I don't know what it is, but I think my human felt bad that I had such a tererible time at that other place she brought me here. Lets go inside... please? please? please? pleeease???

Hmmmm... What does the sign say??? I dunno, I'm a dog, I can't read, but I CAN tell what goes on over there. Can we go there first? I think I gotta go potty....

Look at all the humans! and the SMELLS! Mmmmmmm. I smell other dogs, people (not so good) treats, food and... hmmm... something else I just can't put my nose on it. oh well... walk on humans, lets go check this place out!

First things first... My human gave some other humans some paper and they let her spin this round thing. After it stopped the other humans let my human take a ball... odd. why did she have to spin the thing? How come she couldn't take a ball. humans are really strange...

Then. what? who's this??? Hayyyy! I know who that human is! I see him on TV all the time! He helps other dogs who need help...I'll have to have my human edit that sentence later... Anyway. His name is Shorty and HEEEES the Pit Boss! His Pit Bull is named Hercules and they live wayyyyy far away in the TV at home. Most of the time. I guess he got out.  I wanted to meet him, but there were too many other dogs around and he looked really busy. NEXT....

 

 Now THIS dog was scary! He seemed all cool in the beginning, but what my human didnt take a picture of was this dog...yah that big one right there... BIT the other human! ON PURPOSE! Really hard too! So hard that the little fluffy human fell to the ground and was yelling. Then his human said "OUST!" -- that means drop it by the way.-- And he did, right away and acted like nothing happened... weird. I think he's a little unstable... Can we go please??

Look at this! I'm famous! They have a sign with ME on it! No, not really, but it sure does look like me... These two guys thought it was me. They wanted my paw print. I told them I was a little too busy for handing out paw prints today, and I flipped my ears forward and winked. hehehe. No, really, I didn't, but wouldn't that have been fun? 

Woahhh! STOP! Right here! Look! Agility!!! Can we? Can we? Can we? PLEEEEASE??

YES! We are next in line. My humans are AWESOME! I was told that Penny's human has a video of me on the agility course. I can't WAIT to see it! I was a pro runner and jumper, I had NO idea what I was doing and the thing that looks like a tube with a sheet attached to it was a little scary, but I was brave and the human that was training my human said I was a natural and did really well!!

Then it was time to go home. I was SO tired! All the water bowls smelled funny from all the other dogs drinking from it.. ewww... dog slobber. When I got home I took a LONG nap. when I woke up, I had this thing around my neck. My human said it was because I did good at Agility.

I wear it proudly!

6 Month Old Pointer Mix Puppy Birthday

I was told that TODAY I'm 6 months old! My human said it's my half birthday. Hehehehe...I so don't know what that is, but OK... I'll go with it. Sounds like fun...   So now that it's almost over I'm having my human tell you about my day and how AWESOME it was. (grin)

First, we went into the yard and they let me dig up roots. These things are fun to crunch on and superior tug-of-war players!

I got to hunt for birds. Yes! That's ME!!! Right there with my foot up. I'm concentrating really hard on that bird, but it keeps moving and so do I. My human show's me this on the thing she's writing this on...When it stops, I stop. It moves, I move... then I POUNCE!!! No wait, I think that's wrong. That's what a cat does. OH! I stand still... with my foot up. Gotta remember the foot.

 Then my human took out all these things and put them, one by one in a bowl and mixed it all up. Oh WOW did it smell GOOD!

 

But whats this??? Whats this left in the bowl? For ME??? Ooohh... (lick lick lick) Mmmmm.... (lick lick lick) Thanks! I don't EVER get to do this. I'm liking these half birthdays. But guess what? There's MORE!!! YES! Really. Can it get better than this???

 

Oh yes it did! I not only got the bowl, but I got the spoon too! I think I'm in doggie heaven! So then, she put whatever this awesome stuff was into the really hot box. I don't know what it is, only that it made some of my whiskers smell funny when I got too close to it. I don't like that thing, but my human isn't afraid of it. She puts stuff in there all the time. I just wait for her to close it up and look in through its window.

 Then... wait! It gets better! After my humans ate and they cleaned up their mess... they have more than one bowl for their food. I don't know why because they put it all in one bowl at the end... I don't understand my humans, but they love me and I love them. So anyway, I was told to go out on the deck and "Blide". That means wait there and don't move. (sniff sniff sniff) I think I smell that stuff that was in the bowl earlier.. I wonder if I'm going to get more?

 I was told to close my eyes and I would get a surprise.. (sniff sniff sniff) Oooh... I think I know what it IS!!!

WOAH! ALL MINE??

My humans are so awesome! This is the thing my human made for me! All for ME because it's my half birthday!!!

Before anyone asks, yes, I only had half. I gave the other half to my buddy Shasta. He may be old and grouchy with me because I have more energy than he does, but he can still share my cake. It IS my half birthday after all.

Pointer Puppy's First Hike

Hay everyone! My human has been very busy lately. She is looking in the same book over and over for hours on end lately. I tap her with my paw or my nose sometimes to get her to take me out and to take me for a walk... She's so focused... I hope whatever she's going to do is over soon... but... I had a surprise a few days ago... We had puppy day!

It started like any morning.... hehehehe...  my humans taking photos of me in bed... "Really?" and picking me up... "please put me down, I know I'm getting big".

THEN

Rasha came over to visit, but she stayed outside... Hmm... My humans were rushing around the house picking up ...we must be going somewhere. They always do that when we get ready to go somewhere, its a strange habit, but OK. I was right though. they put Shasta in the back of the truck, Rasha got to sit in the front seat with her human and me and my human were all stretched out in the backseat. Ahhhhh.....

This is going to be a fun day if Rasha is coming. We always get to play! Maybe we're going to the dog park? I know what that is now... Its the place that's really big, all fenced in and we get to run off our leashes. But nooooooo.... no dog park today...My humans put water in my backpack...kinda heavy but I can handle it, and we were going to explore in the woods!!! WEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!



 

Hay! Hay!! HAY!!!! WAIT FOR ME!!!!! I don't like to be in the back. I'm the leader you all should follow me.... or just go off on your own and my human and I will explore by ourselves. Hmph!

By the way...... I missed you guys....where did you go?

Rasha said they went all the way around and found a stream to play in. I was getting really hot so I wanted to go, but nope.... iiitsss... DOG PARK TIME!!!! Lets PLAY!

 

Then we went to the stream Rasha was talking about....

 

Wow.. this is really cool... whats this?? hmmm... smells neat...maybe I can dig it out... yah, (digdigdig) I think I can... (splash!) Oops. I think I slipped on something. Woh that water is cold, but refreshing. My human didn't seem to mind that I was laying in the water, but it made digging easier... (digdigdig) HA! I got it! a good smelling rock with green stuff on it. hehehe. My prize!

 After all that digging and running

and playing, I needed a nap. Ahhhhh... nice cool shade to lay in.... but it wasn't long before we had to go meet back with Rasha and Shasta. We all got groomed and dried off. When we were ready, we were packed back in the truck again and my humans went to get food for themselves... Umm... hay... excuse me... I haven't had my lunch yet....did you bring my food???

What? Whats this??? Mmmmm.... I don't know what this is, but it's GOOD!

And that's my day..... ha! fooled you! it's not over yet! Rasha came over to the house and we got to play with a new toy we found while we were exploring. It's a really hard ball covered in stuff that I get to chew. I forget what my humans called it, but we played keep away and got to play in the water from the long green thing hanging on the house.

We got wet and really DIRTY!!! YES! Best day ever!
